Create Kubernetes Cluster with the CLI

With 2 simple commands you will create a Kubernetes Cluster in Fuga Cloud.

  • Step 1.
    Create a cluster template
    ~ $ openstack coe cluster template create --image ${image} \
                                              --external-network public \
                                              --master-flavor ${master_flavor} \
                                              --flavor ${node_flavor} \
                                              --coe kubernetes \
                                              --volume-driver cinder \
                                              --network-driver flannel \
                                              --docker-volume-size ${volume_in_GB} \
                                              --labels kube_dashboard_enabled=0,kube_tag=${version_tag} \
                                              ${name}

  • Step 2.
    Create a cluster
    ~ $ openstack coe cluster create --cluster-template ${template_name} \
                                     --master-count 1 \
                                     --node-count ${node_count} \
                                     --keypair ${keypair} \
                                     ${name}

After submiting the create Kubernetes cluster command, Fuga Cloud will deploy the neccessary resources.

  • Monitor the progress
    You can monitor the progress by listing your Kubernetes clusters.
    ~ $ openstack coe cluster list
    +--------------------------------------+--------------+--------------------+
    | uuid                                 | name         | status             |
    +--------------------------------------+--------------+--------------------+
    | 12345678-abcd-9876-zyxw-12345a98bd77 | cluster_name | CREATE_IN_PROGRESS |
    +--------------------------------------+--------------+--------------------+

    ~ $ openstack coe cluster list
    +--------------------------------------+--------------+-----------------+
    | uuid                                 | name         | status          |
    +--------------------------------------+--------------+-----------------+
    | 12345678-abcd-9876-zyxw-12345a98bd77 | cluster_name | CREATE_COMPLETE |
    +--------------------------------------+--------------+-----------------+

  • Retrieve your config
    When it's complete, you can retrieve your config and use it with kubectl.
    ~ $ openstack coe cluster config ${cluster_name}
    ~ $ export KUBECONFIG=${PWD}/config
    ~ $ kubectl get nodes -o wide
